Edible Christmas gifts

Give the gift of home-baked goods this holiday season

Summer and fall scooted right past us, didn't they? We've come sliding into the holiday season, ready or not. Like me, I know many of you enjoy creating and baking quick breads for your family and friends. Plus, quick breads are fun to give and receive throughout the holiday season, especially if you already have a stockpile of zucchini bread in the freezer.

I chose these featured Kansas Living recipes for you because each offers a unique twist to the ways in which you can give them as gifts, as you’ll see in the next few pages. I've also included a couple of my favorite tips that make life in the kitchen a bit easier— who doesn't love a little help in that department? I know I sure do.

Speaking of tips, I'd sure love to know some of your best kitchen tips. If you're willing to share them, please email me at ChefAlli@ChefAllis.com. You may see these featured on Facebook or in a blog post, so be ready.

GIFT PACKAGING

A gift is a gift, and therefore it should look pretty when you give it, though that doesn't mean the packaging must be expensive or complicated. A single knotted swatch of ribbon around a loaf of bread is simple yet elegant. Use wire-edged ribbon to make it super easy or just curl some curling ribbon and do a quick wrap, piling the curls on top of the loaf. It's pretty and easy to do.

Give the gift of these yummy breads and pastries:
