Celebrate the start of the school year with a fun felt apple pencil topper craft.

YOU WILL NEED:

• Felt in red or green, white and brown
• Green pipe cleaners
• Pencils
• Scissors, hot glue

INSTRUCTIONS:

Note: Adult help and supervision are required for several steps, especially those involving hot glue.

1. Cut felt into 2-by-2-inch squares. Then cut the red or green squares into apple shapes. For the "sliced" apple, cut the white felt apple shape slightly smaller.

2.  Cut seed shapes out of brown felt and cut a brown felt square into strips. Fold the strips in half and hot glue the ends together.

3. Cut pipe cleaners into 2-inch sections. Fold in half and twist bottom together to form a leaf.

4. When all the pieces are ready, use hot glue to attach the brown stem and leaf to the top of a red or green apple shape.

5. For the apple slice option, glue the seed cutouts to the white felt apple, then glue the white felt apple on top of a red or green felt apple shape. Set aside.

6. Using hot glue, glue around the edge of an apple shape, leaving the bottom edge open. Place a second apple shape on top of the first and press into place. (If making an apple slice, use the top piece set aside in Step 4.) Let cool and slide a pencil into the bottom of the apple.
