Lenora Jubilee

Details

The Lenora Jubilee, a country music festival, has been bringing the small town of Lenora to life every summer for more than 100 years.

The Lenora Jubilee has become a regional highlight and kicks off the local fairs and festival season in the area. The festival falls on the third weekend in June. The success of the festival is rewarding for Eric Patterson, vice president of the Lenora Jubilee. “We are proud of the determination and accomplishments that have developed a small gathering into a regional festival attraction,” says Patterson. “The festival provides a different atmosphere than you would typically see in a small town of approximately 200 people.”

Since its beginnings in the early part of the 20th century — when the Jubilee hosted barnstorming events and minor league baseball teams — the Lenora Jubilee has evolved into a regional music festival for true country music lovers. The festival is committed to offering family entertainment at an affordable price within driving distance of anyone located in northwest Kansas.

In the past, the Lenora Jubilee has featured some chart-topping country stars including Tracey Lawrence, Emerson Drive, Gloriana and Chris Young, and the upcoming festival is sure to carry on the tradition. Scott Sproul, president of the Lenora Jubilee, explains why tremendous effort is put into the festival every year.

“A planning session was held many years ago when the community was losing ground and trying to keep the school open in Lenora,” says Sproul. “The mission was to promote a positive image of what could be done in a small community. Our town could surround itself with the Lenora Jubilee.

“We have become known as one of the greatest venues for Nashville and family entertainment,” says Sproul.

Catering to a broader audience, the festival offers more than just music. There are opportunities for all family members to
enjoy the festivities, such as watching the Lenora Jubilee Parade, which is filled with collectible antique tractors and automobiles, participating in kickball tournaments, playing in the inflatable bounce houses and pigging out at a variety of food vendors.
