Journey to Bethlehem 2018

December 8, 2018 to December 9, 2018

Journey to Bethlehem

Details

This year marks the 19th annual Journey to Bethlehem, presented by the Hodgeman County churches. Tours are from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each night at the Jetmore United Methodist church.  There will be special needs’ tours from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each night. The journey takes visitors through first century Bethlehem to experience the very first Christmas. This is a free community event.

“Travelers” meet the Wiseman, census taker, tax collector, inn keepers, elders, shepherds and angels as they pass through the gates of Bethlehem. They will come upon a marketplace full of sights and sounds complete with live animals, and culminate the journey with an encounter with Mary, Joseph and the Christ Child.

Since the Journey to Bethlehem event began in December 1999, approximately 14,000 visitors have experienced this incredible reenactment of the joy of the birth of Christ. Relax and begin your travel back in time as you share mint tea and cookies with a storyteller who will share information about the historical period and region.
