Quilt Shops Provide Crafters Sew Much to Offer
A handcrafted quilt adds warmth and a decorative touch, especially during wintertime. For some quilters, making the quilt is more than adding a layer of bedding. The quilt’s pattern sometimes tells a family’s legacy, and if created with other quilters, it symbolizes connection.
Sixty-one percent of average quilters prefer to shop for supplies at their local quilt shop, and 48 percent of those quilters most frequently are shopping for fabric, according to Craft Industry Alliance’s 2024 survey.
Kansas quiltmakers have access to more than 70 shops for supplies with some retailers offering educational classes and retreats.
Sew Country

The store’s walls are adorned with completed quilts serving as inspiration. Shoppers have access to more than 6,000 bolts of fabric, which includes an extensive collection of seasonal designs.
Dedicated quilters can ask about staying overnight at the Sew Country Stitchin Retreat House, a reservable gathering spot where quilters work on projects while socializing with friends.
