Kids Craft: Cotton Swab Flower Painting

Put a little spring in your step with a pretty painting with the help of cotton swabs

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Canvas
  • Cotton swabs
  • Paint color in three shades
  • Green paint
  • Yellow and cream paint (optional)
  • Ribbon

STEPS:

1. Draw stems using green paint and a cotton swab as a brush. For thinner lines, cut the tip off the swab (with an adult’s help). Draw stems so they gather in at the bottom and fan out at the top, as if they're tied together. Let dry.

2. Puddle three different shades of paint together so they are touching.

3. Use a cluster of four to five cotton swabs and dip into the center of the puddle to capture several shades. Dot “flowers” along the stems. Let dry.

4. Add in background flowers in cream with yellow centers, if desired.

5. Have an adult cut two slits on either side of the flower stem bunch.

6. Thread a ribbon through the slits and tie in a bow.
